I recently started a strip called News Epics! which you can find every other day during the week at NewsEpics.blogspot.com so far the response has been alright, but I would love to see it climb, not because I beg people to go but because I am writing better and better jokes for it. See the premise is that I read CNN during the day and get horrified at some of the things they think other people need to know about, and secondly these are things they ask other people about. I think severed feet and murdered family members are something that the professionals trying to hock their newest product should not be endorsing. I feel a lot of the news is made because people love to see horrifying things on the news but not in video games. It is important to satiate the blood lust when it was someone else doing the killing in real life instead of killing someone in a video game. Plus there are killers out there that kill just to see themselves on the news. So the news is actually causing those killers to murder people. I feel this is atrocious. So I make fun of it. I don’t usually pick stories that are something that I can make funny as much as I pick stories that I feel are a mockery of the “helpful” news the news is pretending to be. Like when a girl gets murdered on a campus and they tell you how many stab wounds she has or how many shots she took to the body. We don’t need to hear that. Maybe we can hear that someone on campus was killed, and they were killed with a gun and it was a woman, but why do we need to know that the girl was shot so many times or raped in the mouth, or that the killer laughed about it. We are not people that can read people enough to see those qualities in the people we walk past. Yeah we can keep out ears and eyes open for things like someone screaming in the distance or the ability to run away if someone starts looming over us. But Lord knows the only people that want to hear how many times someone was stabbed are people seeking out their bloodlust in ways that they think are secreted enough that no one will notice it. They might not really even know they are doing it themselves unless someone points it out and their brains do not instantly shut it down but they actually look for it in themselves. Which if they see it after being told of it, does that constitute a philosophical proving point? Sort of a self fulfilling prophesy, because someone told them that they love the violence that they then start to pay more attention and actually enjoy hearing when someone is murdered, shot or stabbed? Or is it that they were doing it and now they notice. Some might go the other way and write a letter to their congressman and voice their opinion that the news is feeding the violence trolls and without them we would all be better off. Or is the other side of the whiplash coin that we need the news to see what is happening with the world? I have not yet heard news on CNN that makes me judge the world other than that CNN is a reputable news source.

But it is not just CNN it is nearly all news sources with the exception of the internet first hand experiences. Every sort of news outlet has the same goal to get people to watch with the most tempting thing they want to hear: World failure. So when people think they are in danger the new flight or fight response it to turn on the TV or go to the internet news and feel they are doing something by being informed in the worst way possible. I say just listen to the emergency stations. If you hear something on there it affects you. If not, then don’t worry about it there is nothing you can do. Seriously. You think you might be able to save the world, or even a small piece of it, but unless you are the one there holding a baseball bat when someone comes at your girlfriend or you with a knife intending on making the news that night there is nothing you can do to save the USA from Russia, or get our money back from China, or get gas prices to go back down, or save the millions everyday that die of STD related heart failure. I am not saying by any means that you should lay down and die and let the world do what it may, I am totally against that philosophy but instead I say that you should get outside and fix things for your neighborhoods, or teach children that violence is a real thing not just something you see on TV, or plant a tree, or instead of buying everything insight save your money for something like a college education for your children. Or perhaps even Christmas presents for your four kids, if you are into that whole Christmas thing, if not replace Christmas with your own suited gift giving holiday.

I don’t preach much of anything as I am not really suited to run any one’s life but my own, so if this felt preachy maybe it meant something to you, if it didn’t and it entertained you, then great. That was the point. If it lastly made you go to News Epics to check out some of the comics mentioned: Hurray! But if I get into anyone of your heads then maybe I am just doing a good job of typing on this new computer keyboard. Either way, It is time to turn up the volume on this project I be working on.
